PLASTIC POLLUTION:

I Decided to start a project that is really close to my heart, as many of you know i want to become an underwater photographer however, not many know why. The reasoning is simply because i love the ocean, This underwater world is so fascinating and mysterious and the fact that 75% has been unexplored is even more exciting. For many years our Oceans have been put under threat because of humans and plastic pollution, and i felt that it was time i did something to help get across this message.

So before viewing my photography lets get across the facts:

We can’t live without the ocean: it produces more oxygen than the Amazon Rainforest and stores 50 times more carbon dioxide than our atmosphere. And if we continue harming it, we could all suffur.

The ocean is thought to be home to over 700,000 different species, up to two thirds of which have yet to be named and will never even be known to man if plastic pollution continues

Around 300 million tonnes of plastic waste is produced each year globally, and of that only about 9% of plastic produced globally gets recycled

Plastic enters our oceans in many different ways including:

  • Plastic items are lost from ships and boats

  • Plastic items are blown into the sea

  • Plastic items are blown into or dumped in rivers, which flow into the seaIt would be very difficult to estimate how many fish die from ingesting
